Watch History
The Tissot PRX Auto P376 traces its roots back to the late-1970s integrated-bracelet sports watch trend, when Tissot introduced the original PRX design in 1978 with a slim tonneau case and quartz movement.
The “PRX” name stood for “Precise and Robust,” with the “X” denoting its 10-bar (100m) water resistance, reflecting the brand’s push toward durable everyday luxury during the quartz crisis.
The P376 is a later automatic variant from the early 1990s, notable for combining the PRX’s integrated steel design with a mechanical movement at a time when quartz still dominated mid-market watches.
Today, it’s considered a transitional piece linking the original quartz PRX era to the modern automatic revival launched in 2021, which reintroduced the design to a new generation of collectors
